A team led by researchers from UC San Francisco, Organic Health Response, and Microclinic International is reporting results of a study that showed significant benefits of microclinics -- an innovative intervention that mobilized rural Kenyan HIV patients' informal social networks to support their staying in care.

One-quarter of Americans over age 65 at risk to become elder orphans

With an aging Baby Boomer population and increasing numbers of childless and unmarried seniors, nearly one-quarter of Americans over age 65 are currently or at risk to become "elder orphans," a vulnerable group requiring greater awareness and advocacy efforts, according to new research by a North Shore-LIJ geriatrician and palliative care physician.

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust deploys The Learning Clinic's VitalPAC system to improve patient safety

Healthcare improvement company The Learning Clinic is announcing that its VitalPAC Nurse and VitalPAC Doctor products are to be rolled out by Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust. This adds a further 18 wards to the more than 600 across the country where VitalPAC is already helping to improve efficiency and patient safety.

Misperceptions about miscarriage are widespread, survey finds

A survey of more than 1,000 U.S. adults has found that misperceptions about miscarriage and its causes are widespread. Results of the survey, conducted by researchers at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University and Montefiore Health System, show that feelings of guilt and shame are common after a miscarriage and that most people erroneously believe that miscarriages are rare.
